What is a hands free car kit?

A hands free kit refers to the equipment you need to be able to talk on your mobile without the use of your hands. Some systems simply plug into your phone and other systems require some additional installation into your cars stereo.

Are they costly?

Some are but like everything there are budget solutions through to fully integrated systems.

Do all mobile phones work with your hands free car kits?

Some older phones don't support our hands free kits, however if your phone has bluetooth then we will have a solution that will work, you then need to decide whether you want the system to work with an ear piece, integrate with your cars audio or sit in a cradle which will charge your phone as well.

What is bluetooth and how do I know if I have it?

bluetooth is a technology that allows mobile devices to talk to each other passing information wirelessly. It is an ideal platform for mobile phones to pass audio to your cars speakers through your car kit. You can tell if your phone has bluetooth by looking at its settings under 'Connectivity'.

Can hands free kits work with ipods?

Yes we can integrate an ipod or an iphone into your cars stereo system so you can listen to your ipod through your cars speakers.

Can I play music from my phone through the car stereo?

Yes many mobile phones include an mp3 player and we have hands free kits that allow you to use your phones mp3 player through the car stereo.

Does a car kit improve the reception on my phone

Yes a fully integrated system correctly installed will improve your phones reception, through the mounting of your phone in a vertical position and connection to an external antenna. If you experience particularly bad reception we can also fit a signal booster.

Can I take the car kit out when I sell my car

Yes the installation and removal of a car kit is a fairly simple job for a professional installer, if your are doing the job yourself you need to be careful when removing internal car parts not to damage fastenings which are usually just plastic clips. Some systems are specific to the make and model of your car and in these circumstances unless you are replacing your car with the same make and model leaving the car kit installed may add value to the car you are selling or at least make it preferable to a car without the kit.
